Rob with his Director of Marketing and Sales Manager (well, o.k., they happen to be his niece and nephew... but Rob assures us these two could sell you on just about anything: including Second Summer Tours!)
About Us
We have a simple philosophy at Second Summer Tours: We love riding with like-minded, passionate cyclists in new and exotic locales. Our rides are led as though we’re taking our friends out on a group spin. Our tours come from years of “research” on routes, accommodations and adventure value. (It’s the proverbial tough job, but someone’s gotta scout out ride destinations in South America, New Zealand and…Maui!) We don’t have a huge marketing budget. Word of mouth drives our business, which has a way of keeping us on our toes and ensures you’ll have a great experience. Please contact us with any questions about our trips. We want to be certain that the level of riding, accommodations, support, and everything else meets your expectations. "While the Burley Nomad is the ideal cargo trailer for a South American Adventure (here' Burley's Rob Templin crossing Paso Pehuenche on the Argentine-Chile border), it's also the perfect trailer... "
We love tandems, and our staff includes several tandem experts who are knowledgeable about the full range of performance bikes built for two currently on the market, including
We can help you with tricky tandem set-up tips, technical pointers or simply dispense buying advice. We love to see tandems out on the road, so if you have one, think about bringing it!
About Rob Templin
Rob’s involvement in the cycling
community spans more than three decades, ranging from the somewhat traditional (a partner in Burley Design Cooperative for 12 years) to the extreme (four-time Race Across America competitor). He holds a number of long-distance records with tandem partner Pete Penseyres, and has earned a few National Championship jerseys along the way. Rob makes his home in Eugene, Oregon, where the cold and dreary Northwest winters drove him to “discover” exotic locales where it is, indeed, summer in January and February. And that’s the genesis of Second Summer Tours. (In the pic above, Pete Penseyres captains the tandem while Rob stokes.)
